Terry> Regarding: Examining the "Great" in Britain + Comment from Peta-de-Aztlan
Ordinary circumstances might not have led this site to tackle the matter of Britain - it's outrageous treatment of African peoples, and its scandalous attempts to absolve itself of responsibility.
However, a couple of weeks ago, I found myself embroiled in a rather tense debate with a London area resident who insisted Britain's "hands are clean" in relation to slavery and White supremacy.
Holding my own, I was nonetheless frustrated with how lacking I was on the particulars. I remain deficient, but plan to use this link as a vehicle to both learn and expose more. That is, after all, the terryhowcott.com modes operandi.
Ancient Man in Britain
"On the Continent and in England have been found skulls on which the operation known as trepanning - the removing of a circular piece of skull so as to relieve the brain from pressure or irritation was successfully performed, as is shown by the fact that severed bones had healed during life."
Dr. Edward Vivian Scobie and the African Presence in Early Europe
"One of the well-known examples of a member of royalty with the blood of Africa coursing in her veins was Queen Charlotte Sophia, German-born consort of the English King George III (1769-1820)
These facts of history have never been given exposure in the writings of Europeans for obvious racist reasons."
"Cuffay was involved in fighting the Masters and servants bill, which would have given the magistrates the right to imprison a neglectful worker for up to 2 months.
He also took part in supporting the chartists land scheme, which donated a two acre ploy of arable land to poor families from London's' Slums."
"For one hundred and fifty years after 1807, Europe tried to control Africa and its wealth.
They used brutal massacres as well as treachery, for example involving the bribing of African chiefs, and betrayal of their treaties and agreements, such as with Queen Nzinga of the area now called Angola, in their attempts to do this."
"Britain was the principal slaving nation of the modern world." Wealth of The West

Black Radicals in Britain 1800-1850
Special Study in British Black History
"In the 1800s Britain was thriving in the world economy, enjoying the industrial revolution and the free labour of slaves.
It was perfectly legal to buy, sell and own slaves in as much as the trade was not prohibited in British law.
Black peoples were used for whatever the owner wished, these slaves had no rights as a person. ~It was not uncommon to see Black people in freak shows, their features of difference being the spectacle to be glared at."
Kenya: Uhuru Heroes Sue Britain For Colonial Carnage
"Veterans of Kenya's freedom struggle have sued the British government for the torture they were subjected to during the brutal repression of the Movement Mau Mau in the 1950s and early 1960s."
"They have each suffered unspeakable injuries, including castrations and severe sexual assaults.
These claims are test cases and it is anticipated that, if successful, they will result in community reparations for the wider group of Kenyan torture victims," KHCR said."
The hosting of the conference was a natural consequence of the Association's previously-stated aim of becoming the vehicle to transform the appalling lot of Africans:
"...to promote and protect the interests of all subjects claiming African descent, wholly or in part, in British colonies and other places especially Africa, by circulating accurate information on all subjects affecting their rights and privileges as subjects of the British Empire, by direct appeals to the Imperial and local Governments..."
Education policy as an act of white supremacy: whiteness, critical race theory and education reform
"Marcus Wood's book Blind Memory examines the visual representation of slavery in England and America during the 18th and 19th centuries . . . "
"Produced in 1808, the 'map' was an attempt to chart visually the relationships between all the important people and events involved in bringing about the abolition of slavery . . . :"
" . . . a cartographic fantasy which presents abolution as a series of tributary streams and rivers each with the name of a supposed abolitionist attached.
The waterways unite to form two mighty rivers in England and America, and these in turn unite when they flow into the open sea, presumably the sea of emancipation . . . "
"Incredibly . . . " not a single African is mentioned in this 'map."
"Upon her move to London Claudia Jones witnessed many of the same conditions perpetrated against Afro Caribbean community there as she had witnessed in the US."
'The British slave trade was only abolished in 1807; slavery itself in 1833.
Racism, which had developed as a justification for slavery, continued, expanded and mutated to justify Empire. Peter Fryer writes, "From the 1840s to the 1940s Britain's 'native policy' was dominated by racism."
"So New Labour''s Britishness is characterised by a triple denial - a denial of the complexities of cultural life, a denial of the existence of racism as a structural feature of our society, and a denial of class and economic inequality."
'Little Rock" in London: The Political Language of Jim Crow in 1950s Britain
"When questioned by a reporter about the reasons for the attacks one white perpetrator responded, "Just tell your readers that Little Rock learned us a lesson."

Comment: Thank you for this Terry. I decided to copy and paste stuff from the original webpage, though it took a minute to wait for Loading. It was a good idea for you to first Post the Link. Be aware that some people are tight on time, get impatient and may not even bother to click a link! Sometimes the attention span of people on line is low and generally about five (5) to seven (7) seconds. It is what it is.
A lot of this directly and indirectly relates to the many discussions going on about racism inside the United States, which still needs to be addressed, understood and processed out of our mind-psyche and eternal soul. So much of it is assumptive and subliminal.
