HTML Links are great but if someone only has a dial-up connection it can make the transmission of information real slow. I have Comcast, which is a little expensive but great for speed.
Since I started receiving INDIVIDUAL POSTS as different from GROUP DIGEST in order to view Messages to the Humane-Rights-Agenda Yahoo Group I see better how much bullshit has been going on . I have never been primarily concerned with how many people in terms of numbers are in this group ~ or actually any group I work with online or local community groups I work with ~ I am more interested in how relevant and meaningful posts are, though that often leaves much to be desired too.
Nevertheless, I support a free open platform for people to share news articles, posts and sometimes just to vent, to let off steam or even to rant to a point. I have learned how to be truly humane and accepting without being automatically judgmental.
I imagine for some people being online is the major way they interact with others, if only in a cyber sense. I am around hundreds of people at my regular site daily and have a real appreciation of quiet solitude. I love the way the Internet can help us cross borders, jump over fences and build bridges of understanding. Still, with every right there is a responsibility.
Well, I am showered and dressed to go hop on a my bike to the local SPCA Thrift Store. I get some of my clothes there and great used books in prime condition.
CASA Meeting this evening. There is a lot of local concern about County cutbacks of transitional housing programs and other housing questions going on. For me, getting involved in the recovery process has led me into others areas involving basic CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT!
For me, to be humane sometimes requires conscious effort because so many of us have been so conditioned being raised in a judgmental sick society that we need to re-condition ourselves to be just, kind, noble and understanding. It does not come natural to everybody. So many so-called revolutionary minded folks are actually reactionary in their reactions and impulses without conscientious consciousness.
