UPDATE ON 07/28/09 PAROLE HEARING!

08/04/09 - NO WORD YET...After reviewing last week's interview tapes, it appears unclear if current rules allow the parole examiner to release his recommendation to the parole commission, to our attorney. Therefore, it is possible that we may not hear any news until the commission reaches their final decision which would be around the later part of August - 3rd week or beyond.

In the meantime, please let us think of Leonard's perspective, pray for Leonard's freedom, burn sage or whatever your custom etc. Continue to call The Whites House comment line at 202 -456 -1111 asking for the grant of parole. We appreciate, and Leonard does in particular, all that you have done. Your support has been outstanding in strength, comfort and political advocacy.

07/28/09...In spite of scorching temps and humidity, there were several hundred people who attended and waited for several hours until attorney Eric Seitz came out and addressed the crowd. He said the FBI did not have anything new to say but that he was able to present some additional evidence on Leonard's behalf to the board. Leonard spoke with the board and answered questions for 1-1/2 hours. The hearing officer said he would look over his documentation and make a recommendation within 24-48 hours, at which time the parole board has up to 3 weeks to make a final determination. Leonard has expressed his thanks for all of the efforts made on his behalf today. Eric Seitz said he feels "optimistic.

You can call the main White House line, which is 202-456-1414 which will get you into the system, and you'll be prompted to indicate that you want the comment line. Even though you'll probably be on hold for a few minutes, at least you will be able to leave your comment.
Please hold something in your own area - even if its just you and a sign at a coffee house. Or host a "Lunch with Leonard" - stand at a busy and safe corner over the lunch hour with signs that support Leonard. People will ask you about it and you"ll have an opportunity to share.
