Response: : Obama in 30 Seconds?!?!?

This has turned into a long 30 seconds!!!

Greetings All! Thanks for this thread Terry and Norma! I took the liberty of re-formatting your interchange below as sometimes threads end up in a tangled mess with participants dropping their clubs and walking away in exasperation.
We should seek to unify on common ground, though sometimes we have to be able to just agree to disagree and still not break solidarity with those engaged in the People's Struggles for Peace, Truth and real Democracy.
Today I am free from work at the local Salvation Army Emergency Shelter. Many of our clients are African-Americans and that is no historical accident, but rather a reflection of class and race oppression inside the United States. Have you been inside Amerika's concentration camps?
The Obama Candidacy has given hope, pride and inspiration to many people who are usually not involved in politics, who do not usually vote and who usually feel that they have nothing at stake in the outcome of Presidential elections. It is no longer business as usual. This time it is really different!!!
As usual I have lots to do out in the real world for me in the streets around downtown today, including going to the K Street Mall and the Bof A to cash my payroll check. This is my spin on it all and you can take it for what it is worth ~ with a grain of salt and a granule of sugar.
Norma is a die-hard Marxist frozen in her own non-dialectical philosophy and she will never change her basic mentality in this lifetime. She needs to re-read Engels's Scientific Socialism. Yet I do love and respect her, despite having had disagreements with her in the past about issues in question. I appreciate Terry's realism!
The idea that we should VOTE for a Presidential candidate who has no chance in hell of ever winning because we do not want to vote for the lesser of two evils has proven to be false, ludicrous and non-realistic.
It is typical of the occasional left-wing far out flight from connected reality and is a part of why the so-called left wing is so weak, divided and leaderless inside the United States.
The truth is in the center! The truth is neither left nor right. It is the truth based upon objective facts that exist independently of our subjective comprehension of those facts. What is simply is.
Read The Audacity of Hope by Obama and you will get a better picture of where his head is at: he is running as an American, not as an African-American, but a true American. He may be part of a dying breed of people who still believe in reclaiming the American dream and the good knowledge and timely wisdom of the founding fathers of Amerika, despite acknowledging their original sin of condoning early chattel slavery. I did my research before supporting him for President!

The Black Ghetto Community and the Brown Barrio Community has been rejected and despised by White Americans for centuries. There is a lot of pent up anger, desperation and resentment that has been building up for a long long time in these dark-skinned communities. Beware!
I was one of the Green Party Members who VOTED for Ralph Nader back in 2000. I assumed Gore would win by a landslide but Monica and her damn jizzed-on blue dress was a factor in it all! I still highly respect Ralph Nader but now he has become an egotistical joke and distraction.
So-called Marxists should remember a dictum of Karl Marx: "one thing I am not, I am not a Marxist!"
For Marx it was about "concrete analyses of concrete conditions" in objective connected reality, not idolizing any man in a Jesus-like way. We must use our own God-given minds and figure stuff out for ourselves so that it makes common sense in our minds and feels right in our guts!
No one before even thought that Obama would come this far so it was liberal-cool and radical chic to like him and respect his running. Now that he has a real shot at actually being in the White House some White folks of all stripes and leanings are starting to get a wee bit nervous!

Racism, whether openly racist or subconsciously racist, is still very much alive, well and thriving inside the United States. Racism is one of the main obstacles keeping us divided into separate races of people when the truth is that there is really only one race: the human race! Racism was a social fabrication and tool of oppressor classes seeking to maintain their wealth and position by maintaining the lie of racial inferiority and dehumanizing a specific group of people in order to satisfy the greedy lust for materal wealth of the ruling class.
Who cares what we write about in our little online groups if we are divorced from the people out in our local communities?
I go out into the local community and meet people who actually greet me, chat with me and we exchange ideas and ideals. We should be out in our communities today, get away from our computers pontificating, got off our asses, wash up and go out and REGISTER PEOPLE TO VOTE!
When you are out in public take the time to look at people's faces!
Are they smiling? Are they happy? Are they thrilled to be alive? Or are they worried, frowning and fearful? Look at the people!!!! The people are the truth!!!!!! Go out and talk to them. What are their concerns? What are their needs? What are their worries? And what can you do in your busy busy live to actually help the people?????
