Big news! There will be a "Latino Candidate Forum" THIS SATURDAY, May 13
(see below). This is the first time there has ever been one, and it's
hosted by the County. It reflects the impact of these marches over the
past several months.
PLEASE forward this information far and wide.
Remember: "Today we march, tomorrow we vote" slogan. This is everyone's
chance to hear from candidates - some of them Latino - and to QUIZ THEM on
their views on immigration reform.
Don't let them get away with "pat" answers or not answering. Pin them down
on their positions, and then vote - and tell your friends and relatives to
vote - accordingly, regardless of what party the candidate hails from...

Hosting the 1st Latino Candidate Forum
Sacramento County Registrar of Voters Jill LaVine announced today that
Sacramento County Elections will host the first Latino Candidate Forum:
WHEN: Saturday, May 13, 2006 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m.
WHERE: Teichert Boys and Girls Club located at 5212 Lemon Hill Ave,
Sacramento, CA 95824. = See Map Below
"Candidates have been invited to present their viewpoint on issues that
will be on the ballot for the June 6th primary election," says Jill
LaVine, Registrar of Voters for Sacramento County. Over 22 candidates have
accepted and will be in attendance including:
· Senator Deborah Ortiz, Candidate for Secretary of State
· Senator Liz Figueroa, Candidate for Lt. Governor
· Peter Camejo, Candidate for Governor
· Councilman Steve Cohn, Candidate for Sacramento City Council District 3
Hosting the event will be Xochitl Arellano, reporter and host of KUVS
Univision "Voz Y Voto."
Former Sacramento Mayor Ann Rudin will discuss State propositions and
local county measures.
